About

Escape to Winchester!

My first novel, Christmas in Winchester, remains my most-read work to date with a 4.6 rating on Amazon. I am eternally thankful for each person who has supported my dreams through reading and sharing this work of Feel-Good Fiction.

Welcome to Winchester, a small town in upstate New York where something special is in the air. You see, it's Christmastime, the time of gingerbread and holly. A time where anything is possible — especially love — but that doesn’t appear to be the plan for Stephanie. Much to her mother May’s disappointment, Stephanie is a wedding planner who seems to be “always the planner and never the bride.”

She came close to love once, but it just wasn’t in the cards for her, leaving her with unresolved feelings of hurt and abandonment. Everything changed when she planned the Chambers wedding. She finally got her big break and it turned her life upside down, putting her in the position of getting things done in a “better late than never” fashion the entire Christmas season.

She ends up falling head over heels in love with a man who is not available — yes, it’s a customer but no, it’s not the groom. She knows it’s a bad idea, but as a hopeless romantic, what do you do when the heart wants what it wants. Will she jump in with both feet and finally find her happily ever after, or will she be once again left heartbroken?

Do you like Happy Endings?

Do you like Happy Endings? I do... ALWAYS... without exception, I want the stories I read and write to have a happy ending. Some people don't like happy endings because they are looking for something bittersweet or realistic, mirroring the complexities of life.

I agree that a character with depth should have flaws, be uncertain at times, and face struggles, but that does not mean the story needs to end on a sour note.

It takes me about a year to complete a novel from inception to print, and as I take my main character on a journey for the readers' pleasure, the only thing that keeps me typing is the knowledge that she will emerge victorious.

Meet Jane, she is a sweet girl from Alabama who likes horses and ice skating. Jane has a crush on Franklin, but he doesn't know she is alive. Jane is determined to introduce herself to Franklin the next time he visits her parents general store. She doesn't need to wait long because the bell jingles, and in walks Franklin. He roams the aisle, scanning each shelf.

As Franklin approaches the register, Jane's Dad emerges from the stock room. "Jane, I dropped a jar of pickles in the stock room. Please go clean it up."

"But Dad, I was getting ready to help someone at the register."

"I've got it. You take care of the mess."

"But Dad."

"But nothing. Don't make me tell you again."

"Yes, sir."

Jane follows the smell of Pickle Juice to the stock room and carefully picks up each sopping wet sliver of glass from the floor. Her father has ruined everything. Jane has lost the opportunity to meet Franklin, and she will remain lonely forever. The End.

In my story, when Jane finishes cleaning up the stock room, Franklin will be waiting for her near the door.

"Hi Jane, you're in my Chemistry class, right?"

She wipes her dilly fingers on her jeans and blushes. "Yes, I am."

"I was wondering if you would like to go to prom with me?"

"Absolutely."

And they all lived happily ever after :)

Now, will Franklin crush her heart and sleep with her best friend after they have two children and have been married for five years, sure. But that part would be in the second book of the series, and it too will have a happy ending.
